10 Twists on Mac N' Cheese

When it comes to dishes where cheese takes a starring role, Mac n’ cheese is the ultimate classic. It’s also a meal that’s easy to put your own spin on. Whether you change the types of cheeses you use or integrate novel components into your favourite recipe, there are countless ways to reinvent Mac n’ cheese ingredients. Here are 10 ways to twist it: 

Mix in some veggies with brocoli, peas, scalions, and sweet potatoes, or spice it up with jalapeño and Monterey Jack cheese slices with jalapeño, or add bacon or seafood.

1. Add Some Bacon

Who doesn’t love bacon? With its saltiness and crunch, bacon will enhance the taste of the cheese and add texture to your dish. Fry it separately, making sure it’s good and crisp. Then, cut it into pieces and stir it into the bowl as you mix your pasta, béchamel and Triple Cheddar Shredded Cheese.  

2. Swap Out the Pasta for Quinoa

A source of protein, quinoa is great for a more nutritious take on Mac n’cheese. Simply swap out the pasta in our recipe for cooked quinoa. It’s an ideal option for those who don’t eat gluten but still want to experience the deliciousness of mac n’ cheese.  

3. Add in Some Cauliflower

Cauliflower is the perfect way to make your mac n’ cheese even heartier. Dial up the flavour by browning the cauliflower in small florets in the oven before adding it to your recipe. You could also mash the cauliflower and add it to your cheese sauce.  

4. Serve it App-Style

Wow your guests by serving up Mac n’ cheese bites. Once your mixture is ready, spoon it into greased muffin tins. Sprinkle over some bread crumbs and bake for 15 minutes at 375 ° Fahrenheit. 

5. Incorporate it into a Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Why not combine two delicious favourites for an ultra-decadent treat? Butter the outsides of two slices of bread and fill with cooled Mac n’ cheese and add a slice of Swiss, Havarti with Jalapeño or Monterey Jack natural sliced cheese. Brown in a frying pan and serve.

6. Make it Fancy with Seafood

It’s easy to turn Mac n’ cheese into a gourmet dish by stirring in some lobster, crab or shrimp. You can also put a new twist on a weekday mac n’ cheese meal by adding canned tuna. If so, Mozzarellissima is perfect for evening out the taste of seafood.
